Historical Notes 2020

The Roselle Men’s Golf League began play on Mondays in the summer of 1947 at the Glendale Lakes Golf Course (now known as Bloomingdale Golf Club). It was formed by several young men that were on the Glenbard Golf Team* who graduated in 1947 and decided to continue playing with one another. The 1st year of the league included: Bud Hanke, Gary Marqulet*, Ed Troyke, John Troyke, Paul Troyke*, Leo Walsh* and George Wickstrom*. The 8th member is a “Mystery Man” so far.

Lore has it that the league went to 20 members in 1948 and 30 members in 1952 still playing at Glendale Lakes. The league also played approximately two years at the then Golden Acres Golf Course (now Schaumburg Golf Club). The league switched to Bartlett Hills Golf Club in 1967 and increased the members to 50 (10 teams). This stayed the same until the league switched to Indian Lakes Golf Club for the 1971 through 1973 seasons. The league made the final move to Bartlett Hills Golf Club in 1974 and continues to the present day. In 1979 we increased league membership to 60 members (10 teams) and this continued until 2005 when we went back to 50 members (10 teams). In 2008, we had 48 members (8 teams) until 2009 when we went back to 50 members (10 Teams). This continued until 2013 and 2014 when we had 48 men (8 Teams) and instituted the playoffs to decide on the final team positions. Then in 2015 we increase membership to 54 men (8 teams) and in 2016-2018 membership increased to 72 men (8 teams). In 2019 it was decided that the league will be limited to 64 guys, 8 Teams, and 8 Flights. A year by year history is:
